Role overview
The Commis Chef will support the kitchen team by helping prepare, cook, and present food to a consistent standard so service runs smoothly.
Key duties
- Report to work in complete uniform, on time, and neatly presented in line with workplace rules.
- Prepare menu items for the section assigned to you, maintaining the quality standards expected while coordinating with other Commis Chefs and senior chefs.
- Keep your work area, including surfaces, tables, refrigerators, and related equipment, clean and orderly throughout the shift.
- Follow all hygiene requirements covering uniform, personal cleanliness, and kitchen sanitation.
- Have all mise en place ready before service begins.
- Notify the Chef or supervisor immediately if any equipment, fittings, or fixtures are damaged, and use all kitchen equipment correctly and responsibly.
- Complete cleaning tasks according to the scheduled rota.
- Observe all relevant rules and policies relating to fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, food hygiene, customer care, and security.
- Take part in training sessions and meetings when required.
- Prepare and serve staff meals that are nutritious, varied, and aligned with the agreed standard.
- Understand and comply with the duties set out in the Health and Safety Statement and Staff Handbook.
- Carry out any other reasonable task requested by management.
- Perform HACCP responsibilities to the best of your ability.
Language requirement
Fluency in English is required for the role.
