The Role
The EHS Advisor will manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) agenda for the Viatris Galway Manufacturing Sites. The primary goal is to ensure that operations align with our EHS vision: ensuring people go home safe daily and the environment is fully protected. This involves developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs to meet both internal standards and external regulatory requirements. Success in this role hinges on the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels to enhance our EHS cultural maturity.
Responsibilities
- Ensure site operations comply with current legislation, including the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and General Applications Regulations, 2007.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures to guarantee compliance and effective risk management.
- Promote a safe working environment and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Ensure the company fulfills its obligations under the Waste Management Act 1996.
- Identify pertinent EHS concerns and propose practical solutions.
- Participate in and lead incident investigations.
- Organize and coordinate all EHS-related staff training.
- Manage internal EHS audit programs.
- Generate and maintain monthly EHS metrics.
- Develop and oversee the site's Risk Assessment program, aligning with regulatory and Viatris standards, and support the implementation of risk reduction measures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the site's Industrial Hygiene Program.
- Support the site's Emergency Response Plan.
- Monitor, review, and enhance incident and safety observation reporting systems.
- Oversee safety-related documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
About Your Skills & Experience
- Possess a qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, preferably at Level 8.
- Essential experience in a similar EHS advisory role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate strong logical and clear thinking abilities.
- Exhibit maturity and professionalism in interactions with senior management, providing factual and cordial communication.
- Capable of writing concise and clear reports.
- A proactive team player who fosters goodwill, respect, and a positive team environment.
- Proven skills in continuous improvement are desirable.
- Experience in implementing and managing emergency response systems.
- Ability to interpret complex business and technical documents and write comprehensive reports and business correspondence.
- Skilled in collaborating with other departments and communicating technical concepts effectively, including presenting to groups.
- A Manual Handling Instructor's Qualification is desirable.
