Opportunity
Alberta Health Services is offering a temporary Environmental Services position with a remote retention allowance. The allowance can reach up to an annual maximum of $3,000, is not pensionable, and is paid hourly for all hours compensated at the regular base rate.
Role overview
In this position, you will help maintain clean and safe healthcare spaces across clinical and non-clinical areas in a hospital or facility. The work involves day-to-day cleaning, disinfection, and supporting the overall upkeep of the environment.
What you will do
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Replenish bathroom supplies and other cleaning materials as needed.
- Remove linen, make beds, and handle basic linen-related tasks.
- Use industrial cleaning equipment for floor care, maintenance, and restoration.
- Wash ceilings and windows thoroughly.
- Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately.
- Restock cleaning supplies and linens.
- Watch for unsafe conditions and report concerns to the Working Leader.
- May assist with training or orientation for Environmental or Laundry staff.
Schedule and job details
This is a Temporary Full-Time position with an FTE of 1.00 at Peace River Community Health Centre. The shift length is 7.75 hours, with a 2-week cycle of 10 shifts. Work may be scheduled on days, evenings, nights, and weekends, with days off determined by rotation. The role is classified under Environmental Services and falls within the AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Linen & Environmental Services. This position is not multi-site and does not require a vehicle. The temporary employee class has a benefits date available of 18-JUL-2026 and a temporary end date of 31-AUG-2027. The posting end date is 08-JUL-2026.
Compensation
The pay range is $22.58 to $24.68 per hour, along with the remote retention allowance described above.
Required qualifications
You should have completed Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education. You also need to be comfortable using computers and smartphones. The job requires the ability to stand and walk for long periods, repeat motions throughout the shift, and handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lbs and pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs of force.
