Team Overview
The Singapore Equity Trading Team supports portfolio managers across MSIM by handling trade execution in multiple asset classes, including equities, futures, options, and foreign exchange, across Asia, EMEA, and MENA markets.
Role Summary
MSIM is seeking a Singapore-based trader with hands-on experience executing cash and derivative trades across equities, futures, and FX. The role requires strong coordination with portfolio managers, investment teams, and sell-side dealers. Success in this position depends on thoughtful leadership, a collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, solid analytical ability, and excellent communication skills, along with a genuine interest in global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with portfolio managers and trading team colleagues to manage orders through every stage of the process, including order creation, cash management, pre-trade checks, execution, and settlement.
- Review trade construction, pre-trade analytics, and venue analysis, including liquidity risk, to help achieve best execution.
- Develop market commentary and insights for investment teams by drawing on knowledge of global markets, liquidity conditions, market structure, and market access efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, legal, operations, risk, and IT teams to keep trading workflows effective and efficient.
Experience and Skills Required
The ideal candidate brings 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a comparable trading role and is comfortable operating within investment-management regulations. They should understand order management, execution, and trading platforms, and have a solid grasp of market dynamics, macro factors, and cross-asset implications for portfolios. The person should enjoy working in teams, communicate clearly and professionally, and build trusted relationships both internally and externally. They must be adaptable to shifting priorities, support broader team goals, and be open to using AI-enabled workflows. A process-oriented mindset, strong accuracy, and the ability to make quick, sound decisions in a high-pressure environment are essential.
