Role overview

This is an on-site, project-based freelance opportunity for a Lighting Designer in Doha, Qatar. The selected professional will create lighting concepts tailored to each project, with a focus on homes and commercial interiors. The work must balance visual appeal, practical use, and energy performance.

What you will do

• Study architectural drawings and interior plans to build lighting ideas that suit the space.
• Develop detailed lighting layouts for residential and commercial environments.
• Choose fixtures and prepare technical details, including bills of quantities and specifications.
• Work closely with architects, interior designers, suppliers, and project managers to keep the design aligned with the client brief, budget, and local rules.
• Support installations on site and adapt the design when field conditions require changes.
• Contribute to presentations, mood boards, and product selections that match the company’s premium portfolio.
• Create immersive 360° visual presentations using the Kuula platform to showcase lighting concepts.

Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate should bring strong experience in lighting and architectural lighting design for both residential and commercial settings. A good grasp of lighting control, fixture planning, and interior design principles is important, along with practical familiarity with lighting visualization and design tools such as Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software. The role also requires knowledge of lighting standards, energy-efficient design, and local construction regulations in Qatar or the GCC region. Strong communication, teamwork, and presentation skills are needed to work with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Additional requirements

Applicants should have a diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Lighting Design, or another related discipline. Professional lighting certifications will be considered an advantage. Prior experience in freelance or project-based lighting design is preferred, especially in luxury interiors, ceramics, or sanitary ware-related projects. The position requires the ability to work on site in Doha, manage several projects at once, and consistently meet deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
