Role overview
This opportunity is suited to a video editor with strong storytelling instincts and an interest in cinematic documentaries for a YouTube channel focused on technology and finance. The audience is primarily Western, and the editing style should feel polished, narrative-led, and inspired by well-known creators such as James Jani and Magnates Media.
You will work directly with the channel owner and receive complete scripts, American English voiceovers, and detailed direction for the visuals. The projects are usually 8 to 10 minutes long, with a steady pace of 1 to 2 videos per month. For the right person, this can develop into a long-term freelance collaboration.
Deliverables
- Turn supplied scripts and voiceovers into cinematic documentary-style videos lasting 8 to 10 minutes
- Build advanced motion graphics, including kinetic text, animated maps, and data-led visuals
- Use professional color treatment and sound design to strengthen the storytelling
- Work with the channel owner on visual choices so the output stays aligned with the channel’s established look and feel
- Deliver finished, publication-ready edits within the agreed schedule
- Share project files and any supporting assets when needed
Requirements
- Background in editing documentary-style videos or video essays, ideally for YouTube
- Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Solid capability in motion graphics, kinetic typography, and data visualization
- Experience with cinematic grading and audio post-production
- Knowledge of Cinema 4D will be considered an advantage
- Ability to translate scripts and voiceovers into visually engaging sequences
- A portfolio showing directly relevant work is required; general showreels will not be reviewed
- Dependable, detail-focused, and able to work to deadlines
- Comfortable collaborating remotely and communicating in English
