About the role
Downer is seeking a Gardener in Lower Hutt, Wellington to help maintain attractive, healthy outdoor spaces across parks, reserves, gardens, and other public areas. This is a practical, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working outside, takes pride in tidy surroundings, and wants to contribute to the upkeep of community spaces.
What you’ll do
You will be responsible for a range of gardening and grounds-care tasks at designated client sites. The work includes planting, pruning, weed management, edging, mulching, hedge trimming, routine garden care, and general site maintenance. You’ll be expected to complete duties to a high standard while keeping safety, teamwork, and customer service front of mind.
Every day will be different, and the role suits someone who likes physical outdoor work, enjoys being part of a supportive team, and likes seeing visible results from their effort.

You’ll also need to be willing to learn, follow safety practices, and use basic electronic devices for job-related tasks.
