Role overview
This position belongs to the BAU Production Support team and focuses on keeping the production environment stable and performing well. As a Guidewire Developer, you will contribute to analysis, design, development, and delivery of enhancements across Guidewire platforms, with an emphasis on maintainable code, agile ways of working, and close collaboration with senior developers and architects.
This is a permanent full-time position based in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
What you'll do
- Keep Guidewire applications running reliably by monitoring production, handling incidents promptly, and carrying out root cause analysis to support availability and performance.
- Maintain and improve Guidewire setup and configuration, including business rules, product-related settings, integrations, APIs, and environment configuration, while finding ways to automate repetitive work.
- Work through defects in production and non-production environments, identify recurring issues, and suggest improvements that strengthen stability, efficiency, and cost control.
- Partner with business stakeholders, system owners, and delivery teams to clarify requirements, provide technical input, and keep solutions aligned with business needs.
What you should bring
- Direct experience supporting Guidewire products such as PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter in a production or support setting.
- A solid grasp of support operations, incident handling, and root cause analysis.
- Practical experience with Guidewire configuration, including business rules, product model, integrations, and APIs.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, Agile delivery, and continuous delivery methods.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through complex problems to deliver long-term fixes.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical users.
- Experience using automation and process improvements to lift operational efficiency.
