About the Role

Role Summary
The Housekeeper 1 is responsible for carrying out routine daily cleaning tasks in line with established performance standards.
Key Duties
- Maintain assigned patient rooms and support areas through daily cleaning, following approved procedures and guidelines.
- Clean designated office areas according to policy requirements.
- Select the right cleaning products for each task, and keep carts secured and stored properly. Ensure housekeeping carts and janitor closets stay tidy, organized, and clean.
- Complete daily logs accurately and submit them to the supervisor or director every day.
- Report concerns to the supervisor, including issues with cleaning or maintenance, chemical handling, equipment breakdowns, safety risks, and any facility repairs needed from Plant Operations.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A basic level of education is required, along with the ability to read, write, and follow instructions. The role also requires a willingness to learn additional tasks and responsibilities.
Experience
Applicants should have 0 to 3 months of housekeeping or floor-care experience, which may come from prior work or on-the-job training.
Certification
No certification or license is required for this position.
Physical and Mental Requirements
The job calls for the ability to read, write, and handle basic math. Strong communication skills are needed, along with the ability to follow instructions given verbally or in writing, stay organized, and learn hospital and Environmental Services procedures. Candidates must be able to stoop, bend, reach, twist, lift up to 40 pounds, and push linen carts weighing as much as 300 pounds. The role also requires basic computer skills, extended standing and walking, and safe use of chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
Working Conditions
This position may involve unpleasant environments, strong odors, and contact with body fluids. There may be exposure to infectious diseases, housekeeping and floor-finishing chemicals, wet or slippery floors, and areas where medications are present.
