Job overview

The room attendant helps maintain a clean, organized, and inviting environment across guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned spaces. This role supports a positive guest experience by making sure accommodations are well kept and comfortable.

Key duties

• Clean and refresh guest rooms to hotel standards, including dusting, vacuuming, changing linens, and preparing beds.
• Sanitize bathrooms thoroughly, covering fixtures, surfaces, and provided amenities.
• Dust and wipe furniture, decorative items, and other surfaces in rooms and shared areas.
• Replenish guest supplies such as toiletries, towels, and linens.
• Remove waste from guest rooms and common areas and replace liners as needed.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum flooring in rooms, corridors, and public areas.
• Identify maintenance or repair concerns and report them to the appropriate team member.
• Watch for misplaced or lost belongings and pass them on to a supervisor.
• Interact with guests in a professional, polite manner and assist with basic requests or questions.
• Follow privacy and security procedures to protect guest belongings and personal space.

Skills and abilities

• Prior housekeeping or similar hospitality experience is helpful.
• Strong attention to detail and a careful approach to cleaning tasks.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned rooms and housekeeping carts efficiently.
• Clear communication skills for dealing with guests and coworkers.
• Basic understanding of sanitation and workplace safety practices.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.

Working conditions

This position is physically demanding and involves extended standing and walking, along with bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may take place in indoor hotel settings with machines and equipment. The role may also involve exposure to hot or cold temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, strong odors, and noise. Basic safety practices and protective gear must be followed when needed.
