Role overview
We are looking for a Housekeeper to join the housekeeping team at Malmaison Leeds on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping guest bedrooms spotless, well-presented, and ready for arrivals every day. A strong sense of detail and consistently high standards are essential.
Malmaison operates a collection of stylish boutique and luxury hotels across 15 landmark locations in the UK, combining distinctive hospitality with comfortable accommodation, food, and wine offered through its Chez Mal brasseries.
What the job involves
You will work mainly as a Room Attendant, making sure guest rooms are cleaned and tidied to a high standard. The role involves regular interaction with guests, so confident conversational English is important. You should also be comfortable working independently for stretches of time and contributing as an important part of the wider hotel operation.
Working pattern
The usual schedule is a set-shift arrangement, five days out of seven, with start times around 9:00 am or 10:00 am. Some flexibility may be needed during busy periods. Earlier start times can be discussed at interview, and weekend-only working may also be considered if preferred.
Training and experience
This is a physically active role and a good level of fitness is needed to carry it out effectively. Full instruction will be provided for the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Previous experience in a similar position is not essential, but a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference for guests are important.
Career development
The business supports internal growth and progression. After completing probation, you may have the chance to join the apprenticeship scheme. The company is also working towards having 100 new apprentices in the business by the end of the year.
Pay and contract details
The role is permanent, based at Malmaison Leeds, with pay set at £12.97 per hour for 30 hours per week.
Additional benefits
- Reduced staff rates at Malmaison, Hotel du Vin, and Frasers Hospitality, with rooms from £65 per night.
- Discounted Friends and Family room rates with 50% off the best available rate.
- 35% off food and drink when dining in the brasseries and bistros.
- Fully funded apprenticeship programmes to help build your career.
- High street discounts covering shops, experiences, holidays, and more.
- Cycle to work scheme with savings of up to 40% on a wide range of bikes.
- Healthcare cash plans covering dental, optical, medical, and more from £5 per month.
- Referral rewards of up to £1,500.
- A uniform provided that is practical and presentable.
- Wellness and national campaign days calendar featuring activities such as payday lunches, National Popcorn Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, and more.
- Access to Wagestream, allowing real-time wage tracking, advances of up to 50% of earned pay, money management tools, and savings from salary.
- Complimentary stays on your 1st, 3rd, and 5th anniversary, including dinner, bed, and breakfast.
- Support for The Brain Charity.
- Free and confidential 24/7 employee assistance support for you and your family.
Sustainability commitments
- All electricity is sourced from renewable energy, with most of it coming from UK wind farms.
- A minimum of 70% of hotel waste is recycled.
- Guest bedrooms and public areas use a chemical-free cleaning system, while kitchens use an enzyme-based eco-friendly system.
- Employees can volunteer for sustainable charities for 2 paid days each year instead of normal workplace duties.
Equal opportunities
The employer welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or age.
