About the Company
Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is focused on building affordable, adaptable, and dependable launch solutions that expand access to space. The company develops small launch vehicles intended to place satellites into Low Earth Orbit and, later on, beyond. Its mission is to contribute to the New Space movement in Europe while creating technology that can positively impact life on Earth.
About the Team
You will join an international, fast-moving team working in a high-performance aerospace engineering environment. The role is intended for someone who is enthusiastic about practical engineering work and wants to contribute to a collaborative, dynamic startup setting.
What You Will Do
- Support an experienced designer in turning ideas into workable design solutions, from early concepts through detailed design, manufacturing drawings, and prototypes.
- Take part in design reviews with stakeholders ranging from fellow designers to senior management.
- Compile bills of materials to support purchasing and procurement activities.
- Develop technical documentation for both existing products and new design work.
- Contribute to practical tasks such as assembly and testing.
Your Profile
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- You can commit to an internship lasting at least 5 to 6 months.
- You are confident using CAD tools.
- Experience with Siemens NX, including modeling, drafting, and sheet metal work, is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to Teamcenter would be an advantage.
- You understand electrical and mechanical systems, ideally in an aerospace setting.
- You have practical experience using tools and equipment in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
- Involvement in a rocketry student team, Formula Student, or a similar initiative is considered a strong plus.
- You communicate very well in English, both verbally and in writing, as English is used for all day-to-day work.
- You are self-driven, resilient, attentive to detail, and eager to learn in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Information
The internship is based onsite in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. The workplace offers flexible hours, a health benefit through EGYM Wellpass, 20 days of annual leave plus additional special leave days, regular company and team events, and free parking for both cars and bicycles.
