Role overview

The Junior Buyer will assist with procuring packaging and ingredients, helping ensure the right materials are available for production while keeping quality, cost control, and regulatory compliance front and centre.

Key duties

  • Take responsibility for several procurement categories and report on them to the Buyer.
  • Create and track purchase orders, follow up on order receipts, and resolve invoice-related queries.
  • Keep an eye on supplier performance, service standards, and core procurement KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including supplier scorecards, Bills of Materials, and product setup details.
  • Support the Procurement Administration team with routine operational queries.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Technical, NPD, and Finance teams to assist with production planning, new product setup, and reporting.
  • Contribute to reducing stock risk and obsolescence, and help balance supply and demand for packaging and ingredients.
  • Lead or support cost reduction, tendering, sourcing, supplier management, and process improvement activity.
  • Assist with inventory optimisation initiatives aimed at cutting waste and surplus stock.
  • Take part in training and follow company policies, procedures, and purchasing standards.
  • Provide flexible support to connected teams such as Planning and Dispatch when needed.

Experience and skills needed
