Role overview
We are looking for a Laundry Operative to join the Birmingham branch of Initial Washroom Hygiene. This is a hands-on, full-time position in a busy processing environment, supporting both colleagues and customers. No previous experience is needed because full, industry-leading training is provided.
If you work well in a fast-moving setting, enjoy practical tasks, and take pride in good customer service, this role may suit you well.
What the role offers
- A starting salary of £25,989 per year.
- Typical on-target earnings of about £26,500 per year, with bonus and commission opportunities.
- Uniform provided and access to a company discount scheme.
- A relocation contribution of up to £5,000 may be available if you are moving from more than two hours away.
- A stable Monday to Friday schedule with 40 hours per week.
- Structured training to help you support customer needs effectively.
Key duties
In this position, you will carry out a range of tasks in the branch processing area to keep operations running smoothly and support team output.
Working environment and equipment
- Help run the daily activity of the processing unit, including PowerTrans machines, RugtVedt rolling equipment, and dryers.
- Work to hourly production targets and help the team stay on track.
- Follow all health and safety rules and legislation at all times.
- Make sure processed dust mats meet company quality standards.
- Carry out routine upkeep of the equipment you use.
- Escalate any faulty or damaged equipment to the relevant team member.
- Keep your work area clean, organised, and well maintained.
Candidate profile
No formal background is required, although experience in a factory or logistics setting would be helpful. An FLT licence would be an advantage, but training can be provided. The right person will be a strong team player, comfortable working toward targets, and confident delivering good service with close attention to detail.
Additional requirements
You should have a basic understanding of health and safety. Depending on the position applied for, you may also need to pass a DBS check.

- Company pension enrolment.
- Discounts and cashback offers from more than 3,000 retailers through RI Rewards.
- Overtime opportunities to increase earnings when business needs require it.
- Leads commission scheme, rewarding you for passing on sales leads even though this is not a sales role.
- Employee Assistance Programme available free of charge, 24/7, for you, your family, and friends.
- Long service recognition, including an extra five days of annual leave after five years.
- Refer a friend bonus of up to £1,000 for successful referrals.
