Role Overview
The Lead Associate - Planning role focuses on growing the category, improving inventory productivity, and driving profit outcomes. The position connects analytical planning with commercial execution through OTB management, assortment curation, and tracking of lifecycle performance indicators.
This role suits someone who combines strong analytical judgment with practical problem-solving and can manage merchandising and inbound coordination effectively in a fast-moving retail or e-commerce environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Track inventory health in real time and plan inbound stock movement using GMV, Days of Hospitality (DOH), and Sell-Through Rate (STR) goals as the guide.
- Manage intake timing so that stock availability is protected while avoiding unnecessary capital blocked in inventory.
- Prepare seasonal buy plans and structured assortment plans based on past performance and ambitious revenue objectives.
- Maintain a well-balanced product mix that reflects customer preferences and changing demand patterns.
- Review style-level results on a weekly and monthly basis using metrics such as Rate of Sale (ROS), Sell-Through (STR), Revenue Per Inventory (RPI), and Realized Gross Margin (RGM).
- Take corrective action quickly for underperforming or fast-moving inventory through markdowns, replenishment, or liquidation.
- Study market trends and identify unmet demand or white spaces in the current assortment.
- Recommend new brands and category expansions supported by data to help capture additional market share.
- Manage pricing for both Sale or Return (SOR) and Outright (OR) models.
- Work with commercial and category partners to ensure pricing is timely, controlled, and aligned with planned STR and RGM outcomes.
- Design and implement OR discounting approaches that stay within profitability targets.
- Own merchandising operations, inbound planning, catalog alignment, and discount rollouts.
- Spot bottlenecks in the planning process and lead improvement initiatives that enhance automation, efficiency, and scale.
Requirements
- 2 to 6 years of experience in retail planning, category planning, or merchandise financial planning; exposure to e-commerce or fashion retail is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Fashion Management, or another strongly quantitative discipline.
- Strong command of MS Excel or Google Sheets; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or planning tools such as o9 or Anaplan will be an added advantage.
- Ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and detailed execution.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-handling skills to work across category, operations, and sourcing teams.
