Role Overview
This Houston-based contract role supports logistics planning for capital projects, field engineering, operations, and maintenance. The position is responsible for coordinating the movement of equipment and materials, ensuring deliveries are handled efficiently, and arranging storage for goods when needed.
The assignment runs for 12 months and is paid at a rate of 29-34 USD per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate transportation and expediting support for capital projects, field engineering, operations, and maintenance activities.
- Handle permit load execution.
- Choose appropriate shipping methods based on knowledge of routes, rates, and shipping procedures.
- Ensure compliance with TSA, DOT, and customs rules, and prepare all required documents accurately to avoid shipment delays.
- Work with suppliers to confirm freight weights and dimensions and share the information with carriers.
- Evaluate carriers, negotiate rates, and finalize transportation contracts.
- Confirm that chosen carriers satisfy insurance and contractual requirements.
- Stay engaged throughout the shipment lifecycle, from carrier selection through final delivery.
- Coordinate among third-party logistics providers, carriers, project teams, and suppliers to keep work moving on schedule.
- Collaborate with suppliers and job sites to plan deliveries, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
- Keep shipment-related records and files organized and up to date.
- Select suppliers that support safe, timely, and cost-effective operations.
- Share clear and timely status updates with all stakeholders.
- Track vendor performance across trucking, freight forwarding, and carrier relationships.
- Monitor freight spend and participate in quarterly reviews with logistics partners, key carriers, and company leadership.
- Attend on-site loading and unloading activities when needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Previous exposure to freight forwarding and logistics is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and negotiation skills for problem resolution.
- Ability to understand production and fabrication schedules, along with contract and procurement obligations.
- Team-oriented mindset with good time and task management.
- Self-driven approach with ownership of assigned tasks and project needs.
