Role overview
This position is for an experienced Manual QA Tester who can bring at least 4 years of hands-on testing experience. The role involves close day-to-day collaboration with Business Analysts, Developers, and Product Owners to help ensure software is released to a high standard. The position is based in Swansea, South Wales, with an expectation of being on site for 60% of the time, which is roughly three days each week.

Key responsibilities
- Review business requirements, user stories, and functional documents to understand what needs to be tested.
- Create, refine, and run detailed test cases and test scenarios.
- Carry out functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, system, and UAT testing.
- Check web, mobile, and API-driven applications through manual testing methods.
- Record, monitor, and retest defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Work with developers to replicate issues and confirm that fixes resolve them.
- Perform end-to-end testing across different environments.
- Prepare test execution summaries and share progress updates with stakeholders.
- Take part in Agile/Scrum activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Help ensure new functionality and regression areas are fully covered by tests.
- Support user acceptance testing activities.
- Help improve QA practices and maintain testing documentation.
Required experience and skills
- At least 4 years of practical experience in manual testing.
- Solid understanding of the software development life cycle and test life cycle.
- Experience with functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, and UAT testing.
- Ability to write thorough test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
- Experience using defect management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
- Experience testing APIs with Postman or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of SQL for database checks and validation.
- Prior experience in Agile/Scrum-based delivery teams.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have
- Exposure to automation tools like Selenium or Playwright.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts.
- ISTQB certification would be an advantage.
