About the Company
Valence Surface Technologies is a complete surface-finishing provider serving the commercial aerospace, defense, space, and satellite sectors. With ten locations across the U.S., the company supports customers end to end, covering everything from NDT and chemical processing through paint and sub-assembly.
Role Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on improving operational methods, reducing cost, strengthening repeatability, and supporting production readiness across chemical processing and related manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and introduce tools, methods, and techniques that lower labor expense, improve turnaround time, and raise quality across process steps such as masking, sanding, painting, and demasking.
- Evaluate established methods for long-running products and put improvements in place for tooling, aids, and templates so processes become more consistent and repeatable.
- Analyze customer specifications for new products, identify any gaps versus current practices, and define the process requirements needed to meet those specifications.
- Drive process improvement in tooling, sequencing, throughput, and cost review for both new and existing work packages, with a focus on reducing material, labor, and paint costs.
- Manage projects to ensure targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Lead first-article qualification activities while balancing schedule efficiency, pricing considerations, and sound engineering practices.
- Work with the planning team to build accurate work orders for both new and current orders, and create new technique cards as needed.
- Partner with cross-functional project team members to support timely delivery and successful execution of product goals.
- Draft and update internal process documents and quality work instructions used for quality control testing.
- Handle document control for customer engineering documentation.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Processing, or Aeronautical Engineering is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in chemical processing or a related engineering field.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CATIA.
Export Compliance Requirement
This role involves access to EAR- or ITAR-controlled technology. Candidates must qualify for employment under U.S. export control regulations and must meet the definition of a “U.S. Person.”
