Role overview
Based in Singapore, this full-time Operations role sits within a startup developing photonics infrastructure for AI supercomputing. The company is working on chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines, and this position plays an important part in making sure the right materials are available for prototype, new product introduction, and production activity.
The Materials Planner will help coordinate demand, supply, and fulfillment planning for optical transceivers, silicon photonics assemblies, and related components. The role also involves keeping ERP and MRP data accurate, supporting purchase and work order releases, and working closely with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, quality, inventory control, and operations teams to keep production moving and inventory healthy.
About the company
The organization is a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by experienced industry leaders. Its focus is on building the underlying photonics layer for next-generation computing with a strong emphasis on speed, efficiency, and scale. This is positioned as a high-impact opportunity for someone who wants to contribute early in a growing business and help shape how critical infrastructure is sourced, planned, and delivered.
What you will handle
- Take ownership of demand, supply, and fulfillment planning in MRP for optical transceivers, silicon photonics assemblies, and associated parts across prototype, NPI, and production builds.
- Keep bills of material, part details, planning settings, and ERP master data current so planning, execution, and traceability remain reliable.
- Send purchase planning signals to procurement on time to maintain supply continuity for long-lead optical, semiconductor, and electromechanical items.
- Release and manage work orders in line with build plans, material availability, and manufacturing priorities.
- Adjust demand plans when engineering changes, revised build needs, qualification work, or product transitions occur, and explain the resulting material impact to the relevant teams.
- Maintain clear visibility into material status through line-of-balance reporting, shortage monitoring, clear-to-build reviews, and related planning measures.
- Work across engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and operations to support product readiness and broader delivery and inventory targets.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the manager that align with the role and changing business needs.
What the role requires
- At least 2 years of relevant experience, along with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or a related discipline.
- Practical ability to perform line-of-balance analysis and clear-to-build reviews in a manufacturing setting.
- Solid understanding of materials planning basics such as master data control, order policy, bill of material governance, planning release, and fulfillment execution.
- Hands-on experience using MRP and ERP platforms that support complex manufacturing and supply planning.
- Strong analytical capability, with comfort using Microsoft Office, mathematics, and statistics.
Preferred experience
- Advanced capability with MRP and ERP tools in high-mix, fast-growing manufacturing environments.
- Background in optical transceivers, silicon photonics, semiconductors, advanced electronics, or similar advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Experience in fast-scaling settings such as new product introduction, engineering change management, and production ramp-up planning.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and controlled revision documents.
- Exposure to AS9100, U.S. export controls, or similar regulated manufacturing requirements is an advantage.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage several deadlines at once.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative style in a fast-moving environment.
What is offered
- Salary aligned with the candidate’s experience.
- A benefits package that includes health insurance.
- Professional growth support, including development opportunities and certification assistance.
- Exposure to advanced photonics and manufacturing technologies.
- A collaborative workplace environment.
