Mill Wright - Support Canron Mill

Job purpose

This role is centered on supporting Canron Mill operations by overseeing key production parameters, coordinating shift execution, and ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the cold mill line.

Key responsibilities

• Track and regulate the mill’s two core operating measures: TAT and speed.
• Take charge of shift-level cold mill activities and support decision-making throughout the shift.
• Ensure manpower is available and deployed appropriately for the shift crew.
• Handle mill planning and scheduling activities.
• Oversee sample checks, record downtime in the machine log, verify gauge trace, and report findings to the immediate supervisor.
• Assign manpower during shift breakdowns, manage breakdown response within the shift, and communicate the handover to the next shift.
• Maintain workplace discipline, ensure compliance with safety PPE requirements, and uphold 5S standards in the mill.
• Follow check-sheet requirements and act on any deviations reported, coordinating with the LLF team member as needed.
• Generate material issue slips in the system for withdrawals from engineering stores whenever required.
• Ensure adherence to the daily mill plan and the priority lots assigned within it.
• Address hot mill quality concerns, including monitoring and controlling coating on hot rolled coil.
• Check shift-wise operation of mill auxiliaries and ensure proper functioning in the Hoffman filter area.
• Participate in daily POET meetings.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
