Prison Support - HMP Erlestoke

Role overview

HMP Erlestoke is looking for an Operational Support Grade (OSG) to help keep a busy prison operating safely and efficiently. This position supports the prison’s daily routines through a mix of administrative, security, and hands-on duties.

What the role involves

You will be part of a cooperative team carrying out a wide range of tasks, including security checks at the gate, searching, handling deliveries, supervising visitors, and keeping an eye on phone use and CCTV. The work is varied and active, combining desk-based responsibilities with physical activity such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the site.

Pay and benefits

The advertised salary is £30,491. Alongside base pay, the role includes annual leave of 25 days on appointment, rising to 30 days after 10 years of service, calculated on a pro-rata basis. You will also receive 9 days of bank, public and privilege holidays.
