Role overview
An established contractor in Wexford is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of major construction work. The position covers end-to-end control of one substantial project or several live projects at once, with accountability for delivery against schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall performance. This is a senior leadership opportunity on complex work, requiring a strong mix of technical, commercial, and management capability.
What the job involves
- Steer projects successfully from early-stage planning through to final handover.
- Coordinate closely with clients, subcontractors, and other key parties, including site and commercial teams.
- Lead the design coordination process, including managing design relationships, RFIs, and workshops.
- Direct subcontractors, engineers, and site personnel to keep delivery running efficiently.
- Set up and track weekly work plans and share regular updates on progress.
- Keep milestones and critical deliverables on target according to the programme.
- Work with the commercial team to make sure delivery stays aligned with budget and financial goals.
- Provide progress updates to senior leadership and maintain alignment with wider programme objectives and company strategy.
- Champion a strong health and safety culture across all project activity.
- Lead and participate in project and management meetings on a regular basis.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of projects to ensure high standards and client satisfaction.
What is needed
- A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience from a trade background or similar practical route is an advantage.
- Solid track record in a Project Manager role within construction or civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of commercial matters and financial control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder handling skills.
- Demonstrated success in delivering work on time and within budget.
- Strong planning and organisational ability, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities.
- Ability to inspire teams and maintain momentum in a fast-moving environment.
- Good technical knowledge of construction methods and project delivery.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
