Role overview

The Radiology team is hiring a Band 5 Radiographer for a fixed term of 12 months, working 37.5 hours each week at Ashton-Under-Lyne in England. This post suits an enthusiastic radiographer who wants to progress in a supportive setting with guidance from a dedicated mentor and line manager. New starters can benefit from a 6-month preceptorship programme designed to help them settle in and develop confidently.

The department is known for being welcoming, collaborative and strongly team-focused. It also offers a structured CPD programme with special interest groups and modality-specific meetings. Staff can spend up to one week each year in a modality of their choice. The Radiology service at Tameside Hospital offers broad career progression opportunities and operates a genuine four-tier structure, with advanced and specialist practice available across all modalities.

Main duties

You will work as part of the Radiology team to deliver radiographic services across all sections, support junior colleagues and students, and help prioritise patients in line with Trust targets. The role requires confidence across all areas of radiography and a commitment to delivering an efficient, responsive service to patients and the wider community.

Working pattern

The current rota runs from 7:00am to 12:00am Monday to Friday on a 16-week rolling pattern, with weekend on-call duties. Working hours will be set according to service requirements across a 24/7 service. The post includes on-call commitment and is expected to move to a shift system in the near future.

Equality and workforce values

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust serves around 250,000 people across Tameside and Glossop, delivering hospital and community services for adults and children. The Trust aims to improve health outcomes and wider wellbeing through collaboration with health and care partners.

The organisation expects all staff to demonstrate compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. It is committed to building a workforce that better reflects the community it serves and encourages applications from all backgrounds, including groups that are underrepresented in its current workforce, particularly Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ people and disabled people.

Benefits

The package includes flexible working, 27 to 33 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, sick pay, access to the NHS Pension Scheme, free eye tests and health checks, gym discounts, a free bicycle loan scheme, salary sacrifice car scheme, and access to support for stress, bereavement, relationships and finance.
