Role overview
As a Relief Dispenser, you will rotate between stores within a designated local area and play an important part in the pharmacy team. You will help pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
In the healthcare area of the store, you will build trusted relationships with patients by understanding their needs and offering appropriate support. Your day-to-day work will include welcoming customers, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are supplied safely, and using your healthcare knowledge to guide people toward informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while maintaining safe medicine supply practices, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing over prescriptions.
- Work alongside pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and care to patients about medicines and direct more complex queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
- Stay current with new in-store developments and comply with all operational processes.
- Help patients manage prescriptions through dependable repeat dispensing and support effective medicine use to improve adherence and reduce waste.
- Communicate with store teams to maintain continuity of care.
Technology and development
You will work with changing in-store technology and new systems designed to improve dispensing processes, strengthen patient safety, and free up more time for patient interaction.
You will also receive regular updates and training to expand your healthcare knowledge, along with opportunities to progress your career, including routes into Pharmacy Technician training or the store leadership team.
Requirements
- Completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification.
- Ability to travel across the designated area with complete flexibility.
- Valid UK right to work.
- This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
- Experience in community pharmacy is desirable.
Additional information
This is a UK-based position only. Remote candidates will not be considered, and applications from outside the UK will only move forward if relevant UK qualifications and proof of right to work can be confirmed.
The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.
