About the role

This role is centered on building stronger systems, tightening processes, lowering risk, and helping shape a best-in-class safety program.

The position is remote and is suited to someone who prefers ownership, process creation, and ongoing improvement rather than a purely traditional safety function.

Key responsibilities

  • Keep the organization aligned with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and relevant state rules.
  • Track driver qualification files and hiring compliance requirements.
  • Oversee Hours of Service compliance and ELD oversight.
  • Lead accident reviews, investigations, and root-cause analysis.
  • Analyze CSA scores and put corrective action plans in place.
  • Perform safety audits remotely.
  • Monitor medical cards, license renewals, and annual MVR checks.
  • Handle driver coaching, disciplinary measures, and safety performance initiatives.
  • Design and deliver driver safety training.
  • Measure and report safety KPIs such as accidents, violations, inspections, and claims.
  • Partner with dispatch, operations, maintenance, and senior leadership.
  • Find ways to improve safety outcomes and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in trucking safety management.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
  • Exposure to fleets of 50 or more commercial vehicles is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with CSA, DOT audits, DataQs, and compliance investigations.
  • Understanding of driver qualification files, Hours of Service rules, and accident management.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to create SOPs and safety documentation.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working independently.

Preferred experience

  • Experience using transportation management systems (TMS) and ELD tools.
  • Background in insurance claims handling.
  • Exposure to fleet maintenance compliance.
  • Work on safety score improvement projects.
  • Experience in driver coaching and training.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation tied to experience.
  • Work from home arrangement.
  • Chance to build and lead a growing safety function.
  • Direct access to executive leadership.
  • Room for long-term career progression.
  • Opportunity to influence safety culture and operational performance in a meaningful way.

How to apply

Submit your resume along with a short summary of your trucking safety background, the size of the fleets you have managed, and examples of safety programs or initiatives you have implemented successfully.

Additional information

This opportunity is intended for a proactive professional who is passionate about safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within the trucking industry.
