Role overview
As a Senior Molecular Biologist, you will help develop and improve the molecular biology processes that support a commercial gene synthesis platform. The role combines practical lab work with scientific problem-solving in a collaborative start-up setting, contributing to the evolution of the technology from development stage to commercial use.
Key responsibilities
- Build, run, and refine molecular biology workflows, sequencing procedures, and automated lab processes.
- Take ownership of experimental workstreams and use Python-based tools to interpret sequencing data.
- Support ongoing improvements across the gene synthesis platform and help strengthen workflow performance.
- Work closely with internal scientists and outside collaborators.
- Create clear, dependable SOPs and assist in moving the platform toward commercial-scale operations.
Required experience and capabilities
- Strong practical experience in molecular biology, including troubleshooting workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Nanopore and Sanger sequencing platforms.
- Experience working with automated liquid handling systems.
- Ability to use Python for scientific analysis or sequencing data interpretation.
- Commercial mindset, strong documentation habits, and the confidence to independently lead scientific workstreams.
