Role overview
This position supports store operations in the absence of management and helps keep the location running smoothly, safely, and in line with company standards. The role includes opening and closing duties, cash handling, customer support, merchandising, inventory upkeep, and coordination with team members during daily store activity.
Core duties
- Unlock and secure the store when management is unavailable, complete system start-up tasks, prepare the sales floor and stockroom for business, and open the back door for deliveries.
- Handle returns, voids, refunds, safe drops, and cash register change requests.
- Deliver a consistently positive customer experience and model service behaviors for the team.
- Welcome customers and patients, assist them with products and services, and resolve questions or concerns.
- Coach teammates on customer service standards, including courteous interaction, proactive help, and follow-through until the customer is satisfied.
- Monitor register activity and process sales accurately, including scan corrections, price checks, items missing from the system, price adjustments, and voids.
- Support warehouse and vendor ordering workflows, including receiving deliveries through the back door.
- Help review order exceptions and support reverse logistics activities such as returns and empty package handling.
- Assist in creating, updating, and resetting promotional, seasonal, and sale displays.
- Maintain correct inventory counts and keep on-hand quantities accurate across departments, stockroom, and overstock areas.
- Support the outdate program and help rotate stock using first-in, first-out practices.
- Make daily pricing updates and ensure signage is accurate and compliant with local rules and regulatory requirements.
- Help with bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable store interior and exterior, and request repairs when needed in management’s absence.
- Follow food handling and product placement rules, including separation of raw and prepared foods and correct shelf placement for raw and frozen meats.
- Use store systems and equipment effectively and provide support at the pharmacy pickup window when requested.
- Ensure compliance with laws governing regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
- Perform bag checks for team members before they leave the store.
- Communicate assigned tasks to non-management staff when leadership is not present and report disciplinary matters and customer complaints to management.
- Complete required training, assigned learning modules, and any additional tasks or special projects given by management.
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least one year of prior experience in leadership, supervision, or retail keyholder work. Strong English reading, writing, and speaking ability is required except in Puerto Rico. Experience with store inventory control is preferred. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or a pharmacy license where state rules require it.

Compensation
The pay range for this role is $17 to $20 per hour.
