Overview
This is a 1-year fixed-term appointment at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, joining a lively and forward-thinking simulation team within Medical Education. The role supports a multidisciplinary simulation programme aimed at strengthening education and training that enhance patient care, outcomes, and safety.
Role summary
The position is broad in scope and centres on the design, delivery, and ongoing improvement of simulation-based learning. You will work with clinical staff and education colleagues across the Trust to plan and run simulations, review outcomes, and help shape educational activity that supports safer care.
What you will do
You will collaborate with clinical teams and education leads to deliver simulation across multiple professions and staff groups. The post includes creating, facilitating, and evaluating teaching interventions that build understanding of patient safety, with particular attention to lessons drawn from serious incidents and never events.
The programme work will include support for resident doctors, international medical graduates, locally employed doctors, allied health professionals, and nursing staff. The role also contributes to broader workforce development goals aligned with the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and the Educator Workforce Strategy.
Team and environment
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust places strong emphasis on high-quality care, education, and training. The simulation team is described as a high-performing and supportive group delivering a wide range of programmes across the Trust. This post offers close working with experienced faculty and practical experience in simulation education within a large, complex teaching organisation.
Values and development
The Trust seeks to build an inclusive and supportive culture based on being kind, expert, collaborative, and aspirational. The role is particularly suitable for an ST3+ doctor who wants to grow in education, leadership, and programme delivery.
