Role overview
Mountain Warehouse is seeking an experienced retail leader to take charge of its Rotorua store in New Zealand. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing people, improving performance, and creating an outstanding shopping experience for every customer.
As Store Manager, you will own the day-to-day success of the store, guide your team toward strong results, and help maintain an upbeat, productive environment. The position calls for someone who can balance people leadership, commercial thinking, and operational discipline.
Key responsibilities
Team leadership and development
- Inspire and energise the team so they stay engaged, positive, and focused on high standards.
- Shape a united team culture that works toward common goals and shared success.
- Handle employee relations matters proactively and support ongoing learning and growth.
- Keep communication open, direct, and consistent so expectations are understood at every level.
- Equip team members with the knowledge and tools they need to deliver excellent service.
Store operations
- Manage daily store activities while ensuring efficiency and adherence to company procedures.
- Maintain strong visual merchandising and store presentation standards.
- Put health, safety, and well-being first by completing regular risk checks and keeping the environment secure.
- Recruit, retain, and develop capable people who can contribute to a high-performing store.
Sales and business performance
- Put plans in place to achieve and surpass sales goals and key performance indicators.
- Strengthen loss prevention practices to reduce risk and protect profitability.
- Use commercial judgment to guide decisions, control budgets, and support steady business growth.
Customer experience and community presence
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional service across every customer interaction.
- Respond thoughtfully to customer concerns and work to build long-term loyalty.
- Represent the brand with professionalism, energy, and a positive attitude.
- Develop strong ties with the local community through approachable and engaging initiatives.
