About the Role
This position sits within the Commissioning Department on the COMP3 project and reports to the Commissioning Manager. The role is focused on telecom commissioning activities for a major energy and infrastructure project based in Qatar, with work split between office and offshore environments.
What You Will Do
- Contribute technical expertise during FEED and detailed engineering phases, keeping the work aligned with project goals and applicable industry practices.
- Carry out all activities in your scope in full accordance with HSE expectations.
- Make sure telecom systems are built, tested, and handed over to the required project and industry standards, and are fully ready for operation at completion.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and other involved teams to keep telecom requirements aligned with the broader project plan.
- Support commissioning, start-up, and maintenance work on telecommunications systems safely and in compliance with HSE rules, legal requirements, and international standards.
Candidate Profile
The role calls for a degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Experience in telecom engineering with commissioning exposure on offshore oil and gas projects is important, and prior work on offshore compression plants and related systems is considered an advantage. Background in O&G EPC companies is also preferred.
English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages will be beneficial. Strong technical capability is expected in telecom systems commissioning and testing, fiber optics work such as OTDR, splicing, and testing, and network systems including switching, VLANs, and IP networking. You should also be comfortable interpreting network diagrams, P&IDs, and layout drawings, and be familiar with FAT, SAT, and standard commissioning workflows.
Working Conditions and Offer
This is a permanent contract tied to a project-based assignment. The role is based in Qatar and involves both office and offshore work. The standard working schedule is 45 hours per week, structured as 9 hours per day across 5 days. A comprehensive corporate benefits package is offered.
