Role overview
This opportunity is with a specialist early-stage venture capital fund that backs scientific and technology-led businesses at the earliest stages, especially those seeking their first round of institutional funding. The position is based in London and is a permanent full-time role with a salary guide of £60,000 to £70,000.
What the role involves
As a Venture Capital Associate, you will take part in the full investment journey, starting with opportunity sourcing and relationship-building with founders. You will also help assess deals, support investment recommendations, and work alongside portfolio businesses after investment. The role includes identifying high-potential opportunities across Europe and developing trusted connections with leading founders in science and technology.
In addition to core investment work, you may also contribute to improving internal workflows, tracking and managing deal flow, supporting portfolio companies, attending and representing the firm at industry events, and helping advance the firm’s overall growth. You will work closely with the founding partners and gain broad exposure to venture investing as well as the strategic development of a fast-scaling fund.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in areas such as investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, big tech, or as a founder/operator in a high-growth technology company. A genuine enthusiasm for startups, emerging technologies, and early-stage investing is required.
Strong analytical ability and excellent interpersonal skills are important, along with the ability to build credible relationships with founders and other stakeholders across the ecosystem. You should bring an entrepreneurial, self-starting approach and feel comfortable in a fast-moving, loosely structured environment. A strong academic foundation in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Biotech, Materials Science, or a similar STEM field would be a plus.
Application note
Due to the expected number of applications, only candidates whose background closely aligns with the client’s requirements are likely to receive a response. If you do not hear back within ten days, you should assume that your application has not been successful on this occasion.
