About the Role
Tokat Institute is seeking a video editor who can also handle camera work for a growing academic media platform focused on Islamic intellectual and civilizational thought. The work covers scholar interviews, documentary films, course material, and social media content. The role begins as part-time or project-based, with a stated opportunity to move into a full-time position as production needs expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit lecture recordings, scholar conversations, and short-form videos for YouTube, Instagram, and the institute’s course platform.
- Manage camera operation for on-location shoots, including scholar interviews, events, and documentary-style production.
- Work primarily on shoots in the New Jersey and New York area, with some travel as needed.
What the Role Requires
- Strong judgment for editing, including timing, visual tone, and narrative flow.
- Comfort working on set and supporting production during live shoots, not only post-production.
- Hands-on experience creating both long-form and short-form video content.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Dependability, initiative, and the ability to work independently across time zones.
Additional Information
Preferred candidates are based in New Jersey or New York. Experience with documentary production or academic content is considered an advantage. Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on experience. Applicants are asked to share a reel along with a short introduction.
