Role overview

Stevin Rock is looking for a dependable Able Bodied Seaman who is focused on safety to assist harbour activities at its marine facilities. This position is important for keeping vessel movement safe and efficient while upholding strong operational standards across the harbour.

The role reports to the Marine Manager and Marine Supervisor and requires regular coordination with internal teams, vessel masters, and port authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the safe berthing and departure of tugs and barges operating at Stevin Rock Harbour and Raymond Jetty.
  • Work with Marine Management to organize vessel movements and confirm that berths are suitable for arriving and departing vessels.
  • Coordinate with port control, vessel agents, and vessel masters on daily berthing plans, ETA changes, and harbour traffic.
  • Check vessels on arrival and before departure, and escalate any visible damage or defects.
  • Use hydraulic ramps when needed to assist loading activities.
  • Keep a close watch on berth conditions and report any harm to harbour assets such as conveyors, ramps, and retaining walls.
  • Help maintain pollution control standards by making sure vessels refuel only in approved safe locations and follow waste handling rules.
  • Make sure all marine paperwork, including arrival reports, statements of facts, and sailing reports, is gathered and acknowledged before departure.
  • Take part in emergency response activities and HSE training sessions and drills.
  • Share accurate operational details with vessel masters, including berthing positions, draft restrictions, harbour limitations, and layby arrangements.
  • Apply harbour safety and security procedures within the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in marine or harbour operations is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of harbour safety practices and operating procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for working with multinational crews and stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a physically demanding environment while following strict safety rules.
  • A team-oriented attitude with a focus on operational efficiency.

This is a full-time onsite role based in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
