Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing one or more sizable accounts, or serving as the account lead for a major portion of a key account. The role requires a strong understanding of the customer’s business and technology priorities, as well as the ability to align HPE’s portfolio and strategy to those needs. You will be expected to grow business performance across HPE business units, shape pipeline opportunities, support deal closure, and coordinate the wider deal team. The job also involves building trusted relationships with decision-makers, strengthening partner connections, and staying current on industry and technology trends.
The role has been structured as a hybrid position, with an average expectation of working 2 days per week from an HPE office.
Key Responsibilities
- Connect the customer’s core performance indicators to relevant HPE value propositions.
- Create and carry out plans that improve growth and profitability across the HPE portfolio.
- Promote HPE’s strategic portfolio offerings in a way that matches customer needs and business goals.
- Engage customers to uncover opportunities and convert business challenges into technology opportunities.
- Maintain a strong, well-balanced pipeline and lead account-level pipeline development efforts.
- Build professional relationships with key stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers inside the customer organization.
- Shape an effective customer engagement model based on how the customer organization operates.
- Track the partner ecosystem within the account, develop partner relationships, and coordinate account partner strategy with the HPE Partner Business Manager.
- Keep up to date with IT developments and explain how modern trends relate to the customer environment.
- Work with the extended account team, hold account governance meetings, and provide feedback to team members and managers.
- Use HPE tools and processes to support customer advocacy and account planning.
- Prepare and manage account business plans with strategic and tactical actions aligned to stakeholders.
Requirements
- A university degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Typically 4 to 8+ years of sales experience is expected.
- Previous account management experience is preferred.
- Experience in the IT industry is an advantage.
- Exposure to customer-facing IT roles or working within IT departments is a plus.
- Background in a vertical industry is preferred.
- Strong execution focus and ability to work through obstacles.
- Capability to build account plans and support strategic planning.
- Experience handling short-term sales engagements and objectives.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Solid understanding of IT industry trends and HPE’s product and service portfolio.
- Ability to lead dispersed or indirect teams in a matrix environment.
- Strong communication, influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Good business and financial understanding, including reading financial reports.
- Ability to maintain operational discipline, integrity, and consistency under pressure.
- Consultative thinking with the ability to guide customers toward business outcomes.
