Job summary
ARISE IIP is looking for a meticulous and analytical Finance Accountant to handle day-to-day financial transactions, reporting, and compliance activities. The role calls for strong SAP knowledge, advanced Excel capability, a firm grasp of accounting fundamentals, and the ability to carry out variance analysis, reconciliations, tax filings, and clear communication in both English and Swahili.
Key responsibilities
- Keep financial records accurate and aligned with the relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Complete period-end closing activities and deliver financial reports on time.
- Post and process routine accounting entries in SAP, including GL, AP, and AR tasks.
- Maintain the completeness and accuracy of data entered in SAP.
- Support SAP enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and improve reporting output where needed.
- Carry out variance analysis by comparing actual results with budgets and forecasts.
- Investigate differences in financial results and explain the reasons behind them.
- Share practical recommendations with management to improve cost control and business performance.
- Prepare, review, and resolve bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Identify mismatches quickly and ensure they are corrected without delay.
- Document reconciliations thoroughly so they remain ready for audit review.
- Prepare and submit statutory tax returns such as VAT, withholding tax, corporate tax, and related filings in line with local rules.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Work with auditors and tax authorities when support or clarification is needed.
- Use advanced Excel tools such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and data modeling to review financial information.
- Create financial models, dashboards, and reports that support decision-making.
- Improve reporting workflows by introducing automation wherever practical.
- Provide financial insights that help guide business decisions.
- Maintain strong internal controls and follow company policies and procedures.
- Assist with both internal and external audit activities.
- Present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively in both English and Swahili when dealing with local teams, clients, and authorities.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
- Hands-on experience with variance analysis and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Ability to work independently and handle tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience in a multinational or fast-moving business setting is preferred.
