About the Company
Fondo is a unified accounting solution created for startups. The platform automates bookkeeping, tax work, and tax credit support for more than 1,000 fast-growing companies. It blends advanced automation with experienced in-house accountants who understand startup needs, helping clients remain compliant, extend runway, and stay focused on scaling. Customers typically receive an average of $21,000 back from the IRS each year, with potential savings of up to $500,000.
The organization has a collaborative, globally distributed team that works mainly remotely, with headquarters in San Francisco and an office in Austin. The culture is inclusive and growth-oriented, encouraging open communication, shared context, and continuous improvement through client feedback. Backing comes from Y Combinator, Money Forward, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Motley Fool Ventures.

- At least 3 years of accounting experience is required.
- Strong understanding of accounting theory, rules, and practices is essential.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel is required.
- Experience managing finances for multiple clients is preferred.

- You should be adaptable, strategic, and able to handle ambiguity, solve problems creatively, and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort with data analysis and financial reporting systems is important, including the ability to prepare and interpret statistical and financial reports.
- Experience in SaaS, technology, startups, high-growth businesses, or PE-backed companies is preferred.
- Experience with Big 4 firms is an added advantage.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual pay is competitive, with a range of $60,000 to $80,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
- Performance-based bonuses may be available.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage is included for you and your family.
- A 401(k) retirement plan is offered, including Roth options and a company match of up to 4%.
