Job description

Role overview

We are hiring on behalf of a partner organization seeking an Accounting Associate in the United States. This is a fully remote role for someone who values accuracy, structure, and dependable financial operations. The position focuses on payroll execution, compliant recordkeeping, reconciliations, month-end close support, and broader accounting tasks that keep finance processes running smoothly.

In this role, you will work closely with finance and people operations teams to coordinate payroll, benefits administration, and reporting. You will also help strengthen audit readiness, improve process quality, and support financial integrity across the business. Because this position carries a high level of trust, consistency, precision, and accountability are essential.

Core accountabilities

  • Run semi-monthly payroll with careful attention to wages, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and timekeeping data.
  • Administer benefits programs such as HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life insurance, while ensuring deductions are processed correctly and employees receive timely support.
  • Match payroll accounts, prepare journal entries, and produce reports that help leadership make informed decisions.
  • Maintain payroll tax compliance and keep records organized and ready for audit review in partnership with finance.
  • Assist with employee data updates and respond to payroll-related questions alongside people and culture teams.
  • Support month-end close work, including reconciliations, general ledger upkeep, and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to cash management activities, ad hoc financial analysis, audit support, and continuous process improvements.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or payroll, with practical involvement in payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of payroll workflows, tax rules, and core accounting principles.
  • Strong spreadsheet ability in Google Sheets or Excel, including tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Exposure to payroll or finance software; experience with Paycom or comparable systems is preferred.
  • Good analytical ability to spot, investigate, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Clear communication skills and the judgment to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • A high level of accuracy, detail orientation, and personal accountability.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote, technology-driven environment.

Benefits and perks

  • Fully remote setup with flexibility across the United States.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of individual premiums paid by the employer.
  • Employer-funded HSA contributions and access to dependent care FSA options.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match and no waiting or vesting period.
  • Self-managed PTO with 15+ days encouraged, plus paid federal holidays and an end-of-year shutdown.
  • Paid parental leave of 8+ weeks.
  • Monthly allowance for phone, internet, or coworking costs.
  • Home office equipment support to help you set up a productive workspace.
  • Education reimbursement and lifelong learning support for professional development.
  • Extra support including technology tools, software subscriptions, and wellness resources.
