Role Summary
The Accounting Clerk will report to the Controller and help manage day-to-day accounting work. The position centers on invoice processing, vendor support, payments, reconciliations, and other core accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and within required timelines.
- Verify purchase orders, receipts, and invoices before payments are approved.
- Prepare weekly payment batches, including ACH, wire, and check disbursements.
- Keep vendor files and backup documentation organized and current.
- Handle vendor questions and work through billing issues.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Create balance sheet and expense account reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain related support schedules.
- Help track fixed assets and capital spending records.
- Assist with accounting for inventory when needed.
- Monitor employee expense reimbursements and company card activity.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, reports, and schedules.
- Support external audits and financial review processes.
- Assist with sales tax filings, 1099 reporting, and related compliance work.
- Take on additional assignments and special projects as directed by the Controller.
Qualifications
- An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar area is preferred.
- Ideally, candidates will have 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a related function.
- Prior exposure to ERP tools such as QuickBooks or Fishbowl is preferred.
- Strong accuracy and close attention to detail are essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite is required.
- Good organizational habits and the ability to manage time well are important.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills are needed.
- The role requires discretion and the ability to handle confidential financial information.
