Job description
Role overview
An expanding international trading company is hiring an Accounting Assistant for its finance team in Dublin. This position is well suited to a highly organised finance professional with hands-on experience in reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, who can thrive in a busy commercial setting. The role contributes to day-to-day finance operations and also supports month-end reporting and the preparation of management accounts.
Key responsibilities
- Handle the accounts payable workflow, including entering supplier invoices, setting up vendors, and arranging payment schedules.
- Keep accounts receivable records up to date and manage payment allocations and reconciliation tasks.
- Perform thorough reconciliations for bank, supplier, and customer accounts.
- Draft and send customer invoices for multiple transaction types.
- Track finance inboxes, deal with supplier questions, and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Assist with month-end close tasks and work with external accountants on VAT, management accounts, and corporation tax matters.
- Enter purchase and sales invoices into Xero and Hubdoc.
- Maintain precise accounting records and support the accuracy of financial data.
- Help coordinate supplier payment runs and associated reporting.
- Prepare reconciliation reports and contribute to wider finance projects.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have prior experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or Bookkeeper role. Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable is important, along with excellent reconciliation ability and a sharp eye for detail. Familiarity with Xero is a strong advantage, while advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. The role also calls for someone who can work on their own initiative while staying aligned with internal teams and external advisors, and who communicates clearly and stays well organised.
