Job description
Role overview
Heidelberg Materials Australia is looking for several HR and HC drivers to operate concrete agitator trucks across its Adelaide Metro plants. Available sites include Pt Adelaide, Magill, Lonsdale, and Smithfield. These positions are being hired as permanent roles, with casual opportunities also on offer.
What the job involves
Driving an agitator truck here is a customer-facing role, not just a transport job. You’ll be delivering concrete, dealing with a range of customers throughout the day, and representing the business on every drop. Because deliveries vary, the work is active and rarely repetitive.
- Shifts usually begin between 4:00 am and 6:00 am.
- Drivers can work more than 10 hours in a day and about 50 to 55 hours each week.
- Saturday shifts are commonly available and are paid at overtime rates.
- Base pay applies for standard hours; the first two overtime hours after normal daily hours are paid at time and a half.
- Any overtime beyond 2 hours in a day is paid at double time.
- Meal allowances are generally provided once a shift goes beyond 10 hours.
- The company supplies modern technology to support safety, route planning, and load tracking.
- All new starters complete a 10-day training program before working independently.
About you
You should be comfortable meeting and speaking with new people, enjoy variety in your day, and take pride in keeping your vehicle clean and well presented. Since the truck acts like a moving advertisement for the company, appearance matters.
Some vehicles have seat and seatbelt weight limits, so for safety reasons you may need to be under a specified weight for certain trucks.
