With more than 130 years of experience and over 22,000 partners, the business combines technology with client-focused support to serve sophisticated customers worldwide.
Role overview
This position sits within the Ireland Investor AML Ongoing Monitoring team. The successful candidate will help complete allocated workloads and support the ongoing monitoring of investors, working under guidance from colleagues and line management and following relevant AML legislation, regulation, guidance and internal procedures.
The role also requires building and maintaining productive working relationships with Northern Trust Transfer Agency, Client Services and other key stakeholders to deliver a strong AML ongoing monitoring service for the client and investor base.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver allocated AML ongoing monitoring tasks accurately and within required timelines on a daily basis.
- Take an active role in periodic investor review activity, including checking investor records in line with internal AML policy and procedures.
- Work with colleagues and managers to examine investor documentation, obtain missing due diligence records and escalate significant issues promptly and professionally.
- Support daily monitoring activities such as transaction review and overnight screening of investors and their accounts.
- Review adverse media and identify higher-risk indicators, including exposure related to politically exposed persons.
- Escalate complex issues and assist in resolving critical matters referred to the team from internal and external parties.
- Handle queries from internal and external stakeholders efficiently and professionally, seeking support where needed.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues across other departments.
- Work with line management to help ensure the team meets audit, risk and compliance expectations as regulations and guidance change.
- Maintain current knowledge of AML rules and best practices and use that knowledge to improve internal processes and procedures.
- Support wider AML Ongoing Monitoring activity when extra volume or staff absence requires additional coverage.
Required experience and qualifications
- Understanding of day-to-day AML and Transfer Agency operations, as well as the broader funds administration environment.
- Strong organisational and communication abilities.
- Good risk awareness and the ability to manage issues appropriately.
- Ability to investigate problems, interpret information and help deliver practical solutions, including more complex matters agreed with management.
- Previous experience in AML, compliance or Transfer Agency roles is expected; experience with investor assessment and ongoing monitoring is preferred.
- Knowledge of the AML regulatory environment in Ireland and the UK would be an advantage.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage workload independently.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications relevant to the role.
Working style and support
This is a collaborative workplace where flexibility, mobility across the organisation and access to senior leaders are encouraged. Northern Trust also supports reasonable accommodations for candidates and employees with disabilities and invites applicants to discuss flexible working requirements.
