Job description
Role Overview
This position is part of the production team and is focused on spotting equipment or process issues early, supporting problem resolution, and helping improve overall plant performance. The role calls for disciplined operation of machinery, close monitoring of production systems, and active steps to reduce downtime, inefficiency, and material wastage. The manufacturing site is modern, and the workplace culture is designed to help new team members feel included from the outset.
The Production Operator II works on the manufacturing floor and handles a range of production activities as part of the daily operations team.
Key Duties
- Carry out different manufacturing activities, including running packaging machinery and stepping in to support other operators when needed, while flagging issues on the production line.
- Use computer-based systems such as OIT screen software and Laboratory Information System terminals to record and monitor downtime.
- Conduct routine daily checks on lift trucks as required.
- Assist with Total Productive Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance activities.
- Configure, run, and diagnose casing equipment such as marsh printers, barcode systems, and print-and-apply labelers.
- Make conveyor changes for product changeovers and perform small adjustments to packaging equipment.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
- Prior experience working as a production operator is needed.
- Strong arithmetic and communication abilities are important.
- English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required.
- Hands-on familiarity with operator OIT control panels, with the ability to learn them quickly, is expected.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to operate, automated casing equipment is required.
- Mechanical understanding is necessary to sequence equipment correctly for startup and shutdown and to manage machine and conveyor controls.
- The candidate should be able to identify production-line problems, spot non-conforming items, and take corrective action.
- The role requires repetitive stooping, bending, standing while operating equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work schedule includes 8.5 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, along with overtime, extended hours, and any shift as assigned.
