Role overview
A client in Qatar is looking for an Asset Management Advisor with a solid background in water, wastewater, and drainage assets. The role sits within a portfolio focused on operational performance, technology improvement, and long-term asset value.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate a portfolio of water, wastewater, and drainage assets.
- Track industry developments, especially advances in wastewater treatment, and assess how they affect performance, reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle optimisation across the water sector.
- Carry out in-depth financial reviews of the assets, including budgeting, cost management, and profitability analysis.
- Make sure all activities align with local, national, and international rules, with particular attention to environmental, safety, and operational compliance.
- Prepare business plans, issue budgeting guidance, and conduct techno-commercial evaluations to support portfolio planning and the budget cycle.
- Work with suppliers, universities, laboratories, and other stakeholders to establish technology partnerships and programmes that support strategic goals.
- Spot opportunities to improve or restructure existing wastewater technology service agreements.
Candidate profile
- Engineering degree from a North American, Western European, or Australian university, with accreditation from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM).
- Chartered membership or equivalent professional designation in a relevant discipline, such as C.Eng, P.Eng, or P.E.
- At least 30 years of experience in the water and wastewater sector, ideally from a public-sector background.
- Strong command of international asset management best practices.
- Advanced IT capability, especially with MS Office.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to influence and engage senior leaders, management teams, and external advisors or partners.
- Prior work experience in Qatar or another Gulf country is an advantage.
