Job description

About the Role

Hawthorne Residential Partners is seeking a motivated, dependable, and service-minded professional to support one of its award-winning apartment communities. The company is among the 50 largest multifamily management firms in the United States, with strong roots in the Southeast, and it emphasizes a people-first culture built around service, connection, and consistently delivering more than expected.

In this position, you will help drive the community’s daily success by balancing leasing support, resident relations, rent collection, renewals, and administrative work. You will partner closely with the Community Manager, help set the tone for the team, address resident issues with care, and contribute to an environment where both residents and staff can do their best work.

Education, Experience, and Licensing

A high school diploma or GED is required. Prior experience in property management is preferred, including at least two years in the field and six months or more in an assistant community manager position. A valid driver’s license is required, and Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) accreditation is considered an advantage.

Key Duties

  • Support leasing activity by giving property tours, answering inquiries, following up with prospects, and guiding applicants through the leasing process.
  • Learn prospect needs, present available homes effectively, and encourage qualified renters to become part of the community.
  • Ensure lease applications, renewal paperwork, and related records are completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Help maintain occupancy targets through effective leasing efforts and strong resident retention.
  • Create and update content for the community’s social media channels to promote resident events and strengthen engagement.
  • Keep the office, amenities, and shared spaces clean, polished, and welcoming.
  • Handle rent collection, check scanning, and payment posting with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Track delinquencies, complete weekly follow-up calls, and support eviction procedures when necessary.
  • Review ledgers regularly to confirm billing accuracy, correct payment application, and proper account status.
  • Assist with financial reporting and documentation for the Community Manager and regional leadership.
  • Step into a leadership capacity when the Community Manager is unavailable to preserve continuity and team direction.
  • Support a constructive, productive team atmosphere through clear communication and goal alignment.
  • Help organize day-to-day priorities so operations remain smooth and residents receive excellent service.
  • Respond to resident concerns with professionalism, empathy, and effective follow-through, including de-escalation when needed.

Working Style and Schedule

The leasing office operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The role follows a 40-hour workweek and includes one weekday off each week. Evening and weekend availability may be needed for resident events or based on community requirements.

What Success Looks Like

Strong candidates bring a positive mindset, confidence in financial review and budgeting decisions, and the ability to resolve conflicts professionally. A customer-first approach is important, along with a genuine commitment to service, community, and connection. The role also calls for practical problem-solving skills and the ability to act quickly and effectively when challenges arise.

This position includes hourly pay plus monthly leasing and renewal commissions and quarterly performance bonuses. Hawthorne also offers a career growth pathway designed to support progression from Assistant Community Manager to Community Manager, along with learning and development support.
