Role Summary

The Assistant Merchant I supports the merchant team in handling samples, contributing to product selection, and helping move products through the development process for a assigned brand or product category. This role partners closely with the Merchant or Senior Merchant and also helps prepare and analyze merchandising performance data for both catalog and web channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, arrange, and keep track of all incoming samples.
• Build, maintain, and refresh sample tracking records.
• Prepare sample products ahead of merchant meetings or whenever needed.
• Assist the Merchandise Manager or Senior Merchandise Manager across all stages of product selection and development for catalog and web.
• Work daily with cross-functional partners to align on merchandising goals and support teamwork.
• Research competitors by reviewing catalogs and retail assortments to spot important items and emerging trends.
• Help prepare business performance updates and key merchandising KPI reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising or a closely related discipline.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in merchandising or a product-focused role.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt quickly when priorities change.
• Strong verbal and written communication, along with consistent follow-through.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and reliable follow-up habits.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
