Overview

A well-established financial services business in London is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join its change and transformation function. The organisation is investing in strategic improvement work and needs support across a variety of business projects.

This role is a strong fit for someone who wants to build further experience in project delivery while working in a regulated setting and partnering with senior stakeholders on high-visibility programmes.

The position is available as either a permanent hire or a 12-month fixed-term contract. The compensation is up to £65,000, with no room for negotiation.

What the role involves

You will work with senior project leaders to help move change initiatives from early planning through to implementation. The role includes coordinating activities, keeping documentation accurate, tracking progress, and making sure work stays aligned with agreed timeframes and objectives.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to transformation work, process improvements, and operational change activities across the wider business.

Responsibilities

  • Help plan, organise, and deliver business and transformation projects.
  • Keep project plans, progress updates, RAID logs, and other project documents up to date.
  • Track milestones, risks, issues, and project dependencies.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and governance processes.
  • Prepare management information and reports for senior leaders.
  • Assist with process mapping and business improvement activity.
  • Arrange meetings, workshops, and project working groups.
  • Monitor action items and follow through until deliverables are completed.
  • Support change control and governance procedures.
  • Work with internal teams to improve efficiency and project outcomes.
  • Contribute in both Agile and Waterfall delivery settings.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Project Coordinator, Project Analyst, PMO professional, Assistant Project Manager, or Junior Project Manager.
  • Hands-on exposure to business change, transformation, or operational improvement projects.
  • Experience in Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Wealth Management, FinTech, or another regulated environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational ability, with experience juggling multiple priorities.
  • Background in creating project documentation, reports, and management information.
  • Confident stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and delivery methods.
  • PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, or a similar project management certification is preferred.
  • Exposure to process mapping, BPMN, Lean, or Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Experience in digital transformation, automation, or process improvement would be an advantage.
