Assistant Project Manager

Overview

Inventus Partners is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for a well-established general contractor with an active workload across New York City. The role is suited to a construction professional who wants to grow into broader project management responsibilities while contributing to projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The position is based in New York City, NY and requires prior construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers with the daily coordination and administration of construction jobs.
• Help prepare, monitor, and update project schedules, budgets, and reporting.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documents.
• Keep project files accurate, current, and well organized.
• Assist with subcontractor coordination and purchasing-related tasks.
• Attend project meetings and draft minutes when needed.
• Monitor progress and flag risks that could affect timelines or costs.
• Work with field personnel, consultants, clients, and subcontractors to keep work aligned.
• Support punch-list, closeout, and turnover documentation activities.
• Help confirm that work is completed according to contract terms and company standards.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience with a general contractor in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or comparable construction management role.
• Working knowledge of construction workflows and project administration.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
• A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a similar discipline is preferred.
