Role Overview
The Assistant Relationship Manager - Agribusiness is responsible for supporting cash management sales and building profitable client relationships across existing and prospective corporate customers. The role focuses on understanding business needs, shaping suitable value propositions, and protecting revenue from competitors while working with internal colleagues to solve client challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales of cash management solutions, including liabilities, payments, collections, channels, Absa Access, Bank Direct, and any future products introduced.
- Build productive product relationships and identify the needs of current and potential customers, translating them into value-led solutions and consistent process standards.
- Negotiate and develop cash management facilities for selected corporate clients while defending the business against competitor actions.
- Collaborate with Sales Executives and Relationship Managers across the Absa Group to resolve customer issues and deliver appropriate solutions.
Performance Expectations
Sales performance accounts for 70% of the role. This includes meeting agreed sales targets, prioritizing clients based on growth potential, agreeing annual objectives and action plans with RM/RD teams, planning effective client calls, documenting call outcomes, maintaining cash maps for priority clients, identifying dissatisfaction with current arrangements, updating the sales pipeline weekly, understanding buyer decision criteria, influencing decision priorities, and preparing persuasive proposals tailored to client needs.
Teamwork contributes 20% of the role. This involves monitoring implementation progress, supporting delivery so client expectations are met or exceeded, building connections with related companies and product areas to create cross-selling opportunities, attending seminars and conferences to promote cash solutions, and coaching team members on cash products.
Risk and control responsibilities make up the remaining 10%. The roleholder must ensure all business activity and transactions comply with the bank’s sanctions and prohibition policy and must complete all required training within the specified timelines.
Education
A Higher Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies is required.
