Job description
Overview
Salthill Hotel in Galway is looking for a skilled and energetic Assistant Restaurant Manager to join its Food & Beverage department. This role is suited to a hospitality professional who brings confident leadership, a strong focus on guest satisfaction, and solid knowledge of restaurants and wine.
Working alongside the Restaurant Manager, you will contribute to the smooth running of the Prom restaurant and help ensure consistently high standards across service, quality, and the overall guest experience.
Key responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running and oversight of the restaurant.
- Guide, encourage, and develop the restaurant team so they consistently deliver excellent guest experiences.
- Maintain high service standards throughout all shifts.
- Assist with staff onboarding, training, rota planning, and performance oversight.
- Handle guest comments with professionalism and resolve concerns quickly.
- Keep a close eye on restaurant appearance, hygiene, and compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and management teams to keep service flowing smoothly.
- Help manage stock levels, purchasing, and cost control.
- Contribute to achieving food and beverage revenue goals.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in a Food & Beverage supervisory or management position, ideally in a hotel or busy restaurant setting.
- Strong wine expertise and previous sommelier experience are required.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and helping them grow.
- Clear and effective communication, along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational ability and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and delivering excellent customer care.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when needed.
- Experience with restaurant booking and POS software would be an advantage.
