Role Overview
Dollar Tree Stores is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer experience, and team growth. This role partners with the store leadership team to keep the location running smoothly, ensure standards are met, and help build a positive environment for both customers and associates.
Key Duties
- Support store operations and assist with routine day-to-day activities.
- Greet customers in a courteous, helpful way and resolve questions or concerns.
- Move merchandise from the delivery truck to the stockroom and sales floor when required, and help keep seasonal sections organized.
- Carry out store opening and closing tasks as needed.
- Complete corporate instructions such as Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests, and other store-related communications.
- Help maintain the presentation of promotional fixtures and store displays.
- Support ordering, handling damaged goods, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention activities.
- Keep the sales floor stocked and the stockroom orderly in line with company standards.
- Safeguard company property, including store cash.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules, and ensure associates do the same.
- Assist the Store Manager with supervising, training, and developing store associates.
- Promote a safe, respectful, professional, and friendly atmosphere for customers, associates, and leaders.
- Maintain store cleanliness, including restocking and cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash, and keeping the store neat and presentable.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
The company prefers candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must be able to read, interpret, and explain operational instructions such as merchandise schematics. Prior store management experience in retail, grocery, or a drug store setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to lift up to 55 lbs from floor level to above shoulder height, along with frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repeated lifting.
Required Competencies
Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills are essential. The role also calls for the ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-energy team setting, deliver excellent customer service, stay organized, and make sound decisions while solving problems.
